All-New Mercedes-Benz T-Class

Mercedes-Benz has recently unveiled its brand-new model, the T-Class. Taking on the Volkswagen Caddy as its competition, it is set to replace the Citan Tourer.

The T-Class is the Renault Kangoo’s sister model, offering a luxury experience within the “small van” sector.

The new release from Mercedes will be due out later in the year as a five-seat configuration and a seven-seater, long-wheelbase version due in 2023.

Who is the Mercedes-Benz T-Class Aimed At?

Mercedes-Benz says that the T-Class is aimed toward the premium, active lifestyle market. Whilst the market is somewhat niche, we believe the market has grown significantly since international travel was prohibited throughout 2020.

The new range extends Mercedes-Benz's portfolio to include active families with leisure in mind. Mercedes claims the latest model is perfect for those who enjoy a weekend trip in comfort.

As a lifestyle vehicle, the T-Class will include rear sliding doors and a vertical lifting tailgate to offer a wide opening for all loading possibilities.

Which Engines Will Be Available?

At launch, there will be a choice of 1.3 petrol engines, producing 102 horsepower or 129 horsepower and a couple of diesel engines offering 94 and 114 horsepower respectively.

As standard, there will be a six-speed manual gearbox and the more powerful petrol and both the diesel variants will have the option of being equipped with a seven-speed automatic transmission.

In the future, there will also be a fully electric version called the EQT.

T-Class Dimensions

The five-seater variant will be 4,498 millimetres long, 1,859 millimetres wide and 1,811 millimetres tall.

A seven-seater has been announced, however, dimensions are yet to be confirmed but will follow in 2023.

Pricing

Whilst prices for the luxury van are yet to be announced in the UK, the T-Class starts from 29,314 Euros – Roughly converting to around £25,000 at today’s rate.
